Quality SMT Engineer II

Overview

The Quality Engineer is responsible for providing investigation and root cause analysis of product failures. Works closely with various Engineering functions (Reliability, Design, Manufacturing, etc.) in a closed-loop, corrective-action process to improve product quality and reliability performance.

Responsibilities

• Work with cross‑functional groups to coordinate strategies for meeting customers’ requirements in all quality areas that also serve AE’s business needs.
• Conduct failure analysis, root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions for customer (internal‑external) complaints.
• Define, design, develop, and implement SPC tools for assembly tools, manufacturing, and test fixtures.
• Establish, implement, and maintain the quality management system.
• Interact with Engineering and Operations to ensure an appropriate transfer of new products, including PPAP.
• Plan, organize, and manage activities of receiving/outgoing quality functions.
• Participate in design reviews to ensure compliance with reliability standards and customer requirements.
• Review engineering change requests for customer approval requirements and submission.
• Perform weekly and monthly trend analysis and coordinate corrective actions with involved areas.
• Define SPC for manufacturing processes and monitor performance; implement countermeasures.
• Interact constantly with Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Materials, and Support Areas to ensure robust processes using PPAP, SPC, and LEAN tools.

Qualifications

• Experience in the electronics industry preferred.
• Experience in the automotive industry and/or production part approval process (PPAP).
• Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, electronic engineering, or related field.
• 3+ years’ experience in manufacturing is preferred.
• 2+ years’ experience in quality system maintenance.
• Proficiency with LEAN manufacturing tools.
• Excellent computer skills (statistical software, Microsoft Office – Excel, etc.).
