General Manager EMS (Electronic Manufacturing Services) (Tecate)

The General Manager EMS (Electronic Manufacturing Services) will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for all aspects of the electronics manufacturing facility based in Tecate, Baja California, Mexico. The GM will ensure efficient production, uphold quality standards, foster a culture of continuous improvement, and drive business growth.
Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: develop and execute business strategies aligned with corporate objectives and market trends in the electronics sector; take a hands‑on approach to problem‑solving and prevention; regularly report to executive leadership on progress toward key strategic initiatives and KPIs.
- Operational Management: oversee day‑to‑day operations of the Tecate manufacturing facility, ensuring optimal productivity and cost‑efficiency; implement and monitor production schedules; ensure compliance with labor, safety, and environmental regulations; drive lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Financial Oversight: prepare, manage, and monitor annual budgets, forecasts, and financial reports; analyze financial performance, identify variances, and implement corrective actions to achieve or exceed targets; optimize resource allocation and cost controls to maximize profitability.
- Quality Assurance & Customer Satisfaction: establish and uphold robust quality control processes to ensure product reliability and customer satisfaction; collaborate with the quality management team to address root causes and corrective actions; lead efforts to achieve and maintain industry certifications such as ISO 9001 and IPC standards; foster a customer‑centric culture and address client inquiries to ensure fulfillment of contractual obligations.
- Talent Management & Team Leadership: hire, train, mentor, and retain high‑performing teams across production, engineering, quality, and administration; set performance expectations, conduct regular reviews, and provide constructive feedback; promote teamwork, accountability, and open communication; ensure compliance with Mexican labor laws and company HR policies.
- Supply Chain & Vendor Relations: oversee supply chain management, ensuring timely procurement of materials and services; negotiate with key suppliers and vendors to optimize cost, quality, and delivery performance; develop risk‑management strategies and mitigation plans.
- Health, Safety & Environment: champion workplace safety initiatives; ensure strict adherence to environmental regulations and sustainable practices; lead emergency preparedness and response efforts.
- Additional Responsibilities: uphold the company’s core values of Integrity, Innovation, Accountability, and Teamwork; demonstrate behavior consistent with the Code of Ethics and Conduct; report quality problems or defects to senior management to implement corrective actions and avoid recurrence; duties may be modified as needed to meet business needs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Operations Management, or related field required (Master’s degree preferred).
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in electronics manufacturing, with at least 5 years in a senior management or executive role.
- Demonstrated success leading manufacturing operations in a fast‑paced, multicultural environment.
- Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets, P&L, and driving profitability.
- In‑depth knowledge of industry standards, production technologies, and best practices.
- Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills (bilingual Spanish/English preferred).
- Proven track record in talent development, team building, and employee engagement.
- Experience with process improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, or Kaizen.
- Strong negotiation and vendor management capabilities.
- Familiarity with Mexican labor and regulatory environments.
