POSITION TITLE: Librarian

REPORTS TO: Division Coordinator / Principal

POSITION SUMMARY

The Librarian is responsible for creating and maintaining a dynamic, welcoming, and organized library environment that fosters a love of reading, inquiry, research, and lifelong learning. The Librarian supports students and faculty by managing library resources, promoting literacy initiatives, teaching information literacy skills, and integrating library services into the academic program.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Library Science, Education, Information Science, Literature, or a related field.
  • Previous experience working in a school library preferred.
  • Native-level or highly proficient English communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and record-keeping abilities.
  • Knowledge of library management systems and digital resources.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, students, and parents.
  • Strong technology skills, including Microsoft 365 and online research tools.
  • Passion for literature, reading promotion, and student learning.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the daily operations of the school library.
  • Maintain an organized, accurate, and accessible collection of print and digital resources.
  • Assist students and faculty in locating, evaluating, and utilizing information resources.
  • Promote literacy, reading engagement, and independent learning across all grade levels.
  • Plan and coordinate library programs, reading initiatives, book fairs, and special events.
  • Collaborate with teachers to support curriculum objectives through library resources and research activities.
  • Teach students information literacy, research skills, and responsible digital citizenship.
  • Evaluate, select, acquire, and maintain library materials that support instructional programs and student interests.
  • Manage circulation procedures, inventory, cataloging, and collection development.
  • Maintain accurate library records and generate reports as needed.
  • Support students in developing a lifelong appreciation for reading and learning.
  • Ensure that the library environment remains safe, welcoming, and conducive to learning.
  • Stay current with trends in children’s and young adult literature, educational technology, and library services.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise students using library facilities before, during, and after school as assigned.
  • Assist with school events, academic programs, and literacy initiatives.
  • Support new student orientation regarding library procedures and resources.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development activities, and school-wide initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the administration.
