Job Overview

The Security Manager ensures that the property is safe for all patrons and employees. The role involves developing and implementing security policies, coordinating with law enforcement, conducting safety inspections, and supervising the security team.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement security policies in coordination with law enforcement and local authorities.
• Conduct regular safety inspections and manage the security team.
• Oversee the Security department and keep the General Manager informed of all security‑related matters.
• Liaise with management personnel, all employees, and loss‑control services to resolve security problems.
• Coordinate with local law enforcement and Fire & Safety officials as needed.
• Promote cooperation and respect within the team and across other departments.
• Maintain product knowledge of all hotel facilities and be aware of daily activities.
• Review, revise, and update security procedures as necessary.
• Train the security team on hotel regulations and operational impacts.
• Implement fire prevention and safety procedures, basic firefighting, and life‑saving techniques; preserve crime scenes and evidence; manage crisis actions and report writing.
• Ensure consistent daily processing of security reports to the leadership team.
• Prepare incident reports and appropriate security reports for review with the General Manager.
• Keep all security‑related records and reports confidential.
• Attend and participate in Safety & Security meetings and other staff meetings.
• Be fully trained and prepared for all emergency situations as per procedures.
• Review internal policies and procedures regularly to maintain efficiency and proactive threat awareness.
• Coordinate with the Engineering department for preventive maintenance of all safety equipment.
• Control inside and outside back‑of‑house access of contractors, visitors, and suppliers; issue and manage visitor passes.
• Supervise all security posts, including the CCTV room.
• Ensure all staff thoroughly understand the hotel’s emergency procedures.
• Establish and update the emergency manual with appropriate procedures and forms.
• In coordination with the Director of Engineering, prepare a comprehensive fire & safety manual and conduct live fire drills.
• Initiate fire‑fighting training in coordination with the local Fire Brigade.
• Coordinate with People & Culture to establish property brigades.
• Stay familiar with all local regulations and compliance items.
• Perform any other reasonable duties as assigned by the supervisor or manager.
• Provide lateral service as required by the hospitality industry, performing related tasks as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of three (3) years of Security Management experience, preferably with a luxury brand.
• Knowledge of legal guidelines, laws, and compliance related to safety and security.
• Proficient in report writing.
• Moderate understanding of computer systems such as Opera, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Excellent surveillance and observation skills.
• High level of confidentiality.
• Gracious, friendly, and fun demeanor.
• Ability to remain calm and project confidence under stressful and emergency situations.
• Strong multitasking skills; able to work in a fast‑paced environment with high attention to detail.
• Positive, productive relationships with other employees and departments.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate to promote teamwork.
• Physical ability to stand or walk as required during scheduled shifts; quick to respond to various situations.
• Capability to twist, tow, reach, bend, climb, and carry objects as necessary.
• Excellent communication skills in Spanish and English (read, write, speak).
• Willingness to work inside and outside at all times of the year as needed, based on business needs.
