SECURITY ENGINEER- Remote LATIN AMERICA

Job Summary

This contractor will serve as a Security Engineer supporting both enterprise and product environments, with a strong focus on hands-on implementation and day-to-day security operations. This role will work closely with security leadership but will be more execution-focused, helping drive initiatives across patching, endpoint security, and infrastructure hardening.

The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys working “in the weeds” and can actively implement and maintain security controls across network, infrastructure, database, and cloud environments. This role will be critical in strengthening the organization’s security posture by deploying tools, remediating vulnerabilities, and ensuring systems align with frameworks such as ISO 27001, CIS, NIST, PCI DSS, and SOX. This is a great opportunity for an engineer with strong infrastructure or systems experience who is interested in building deeper expertise in security.

Responsibilities

• Execute on security initiatives across patching, system hardening, and vulnerability remediation
• Deploy and manage security agents across endpoints, servers, and infrastructure
• Identify and remediate security gaps across network, infrastructure, and database layers
• Support firewall configurations, patching cycles, and secure builds
• Assist with database security efforts, including hardening and compliance tooling
• Ensure systems align with ISO 27001, CIS benchmarks, NIST, and other frameworks
• Partner with engineering teams to implement security controls, not just design them
• Support SIEM integrations and ensure proper logging and telemetry coverage
• Participate in audit preparation and remediation efforts
• Act as a hands-on resource for security improvements across multiple environments

Qualifications

• Experience in a hands-on engineering role (Systems, Infrastructure, or Security Engineering)
• Strong experience with patching, system maintenance, or vulnerability remediation
• Experience working with endpoint or infrastructure tools (agent deployments, monitoring tools, EDR, etc.)
• Basic understanding of security principles (hardening, least privilege, patching, etc.)
• Interest in growing into a security-focused role
• Experience working with servers, networks, or cloud infrastructure
• Ability to identify issues and execute fixes, not just escalate
• Comfortable working in a hands-on, execution-focused environment
• Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with engineering teams

Nice to Haves

• Exposure to security frameworks (ISO 27001, NIST, CIS, PCI, etc.)
• Experience with EDR, vulnerability scanning, or security tooling
• Exposure to SIEM or logging platforms
• Experience with database environments (SQL)
• Familiarity with system or database hardening practices
• Experience supporting audit or compliance efforts
• Any prior experience in a security-focused role or project
