Head of Engineering & Construction Projects (EPC)

We are seeking a senior project leader to oversee strategic engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) projects, including asset modernization, major maintenance, and operational improvement initiatives.

The ideal candidate will bring experience working for EPC contractors and delivering complex projects in regulated industries, combining strong execution capabilities with expertise in project governance, CAPEX management, and cross-functional leadership.

Role Objective

Lead the planning, execution, and monitoring of the organization’s strategic project portfolio, ensuring delivery within approved scope, schedule, and budget while meeting quality, safety, and applicable regulatory requirements.

Strengthen PMO practices, project controls, and investment oversight, ensuring effective coordination across internal teams, suppliers, and contractors.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead complex projects across engineering, procurement, construction, and handover, with accountability for scope, schedule, budget, risk, and delivery.
• Manage the strategic project portfolio, aligning priorities, resources, and execution plans with business objectives.
• Establish and improve PMO methodologies, governance processes, performance indicators, reporting standards, and project management tools.
• Oversee asset modernization, major maintenance, planned shutdowns, overhauls, refits, automation, and related infrastructure projects.
• Manage CAPEX budgets, cost forecasts, commitments, and variances, implementing corrective actions when required.
• Coordinate engineering, operations, maintenance, procurement, finance, suppliers, and contractors to resolve dependencies and maintain project progress.
• Monitor contractor performance, deliverables, and scope changes to support contractual compliance and timely execution.
• Ensure project delivery meets applicable safety, quality, regulatory, audit, and certification requirements.
• Prepare executive reports covering progress, financial performance, key risks, deviations, and recovery plans.
• Drive continuous improvement, operational efficiency, and lessons learned across the project portfolio.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Proven experience leading complex projects within EPC contracting organizations.
• Experience in energy, oil and gas, infrastructure, maritime, offshore, industrial manufacturing, or comparable regulated sectors.
• Demonstrated responsibility for coordinating engineering, procurement, and construction activities throughout the project lifecycle.
• Experience delivering asset modernization, major maintenance, shutdowns, overhauls, refits, automation, or comparable capital projects.
• Strong expertise in CAPEX management, budgeting, cost control, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Experience implementing or strengthening PMO practices, project controls, and portfolio reporting.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and coordinate suppliers, contractors, and executive stakeholders.
• Strong command of project management practices aligned with PMI’s PMBOK framework, including scheduling, risk management, change control, and progress tracking.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Project or equivalent project planning and control tools.
• Advanced English proficiency for technical documentation, supplier negotiations, and communication with international stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel.
