Engineer in CAE Structural Analysis.

We are looking for a CAE Engineer to support structural and durability assessment of automotive components, mainly brackets, shields, harness supports and other mounted components.

The role will involve FE model preparation from CAD, mesh generation, material assignment, boundary condition setup, analysis execution, result review and reporting.

The candidate should have experience with automotive component-level CAE and be comfortable supporting modal, linear static and vibration durability assessments. Experience with fatigue assessment using dedicated fatigue post-processing tools is desirable.

The engineer should be able to review results, identify potential failure locations, support root cause analysis and suggest practical design improvements where required.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare FE models from CAD data for automotive components
• Perform geometry clean-up, meshing, model setup and quality checks
• Run modal / normal modes analysis to identify natural frequencies and mode shapes
• Support linear static and vibration durability assessments
• Review stress, displacement, strain energy and fatigue-related results
• Identify potential weak areas and support root cause analysis
• Propose practical design improvements in coordination with design engineers
• Prepare clear CAE summaries and reports
• Communicate missing inputs, assumptions and analysis limitations clearly

Required Experience

• Approximately 3 to 5 years of CAE experience, preferably in automotive durability or structural analysis
• Experience in FE modelling of automotive parts/components
• Practical experience using Nastran / OptiStruct for linear static, modal or vibration analysis
• Experience with ANSA and/or HyperMesh for model build and meshing
• Understanding of engineering fundamentals, load paths, constraints, material behaviour and fatigue concepts
• Good communication skills and ability to work closely with design engineers

Desirable Experience

• Familiarity with fatigue assessment using tools such as nCode DesignLife, Altair HyperLife, fe-safe, FEMFAT or equivalent
• Experience with Abaqus would be an advantage
• Experience with test correlation, field issues or root cause analysis would be an advantage
• Experience working with brackets, shields, harnesses, closures, trims or body-mounted components

Personal Specification

• B.Tech / BEng in Mechanical, Automotive, Aerospace or related engineering discipline preferred
• Equivalent practical CAE experience will also be considered
• Strong engineering fundamentals
• Good problem-solving ability and first-principles thinking
• Able to identify incomplete information and request missing inputs where needed
• Clear communication and reporting skills
