Import & Export Specialist

At Cuby Smart , we design and manufacture IoT devices for energy efficiency and automation. We are looking for an organized, responsible, and detail-oriented professional to support our international purchasing, import operations, and trade compliance processes.

A strong understanding of Mexican customs law and import regulations is essential for this role. The ideal candidate must be able to carefully review import documentation, identify potential risks, and help the company maintain compliance across its foreign trade operations.

Responsibilities

• Research, request quotes from, and follow up with local and international suppliers.
• Coordinate purchase orders, invoices, payments, lead times, and shipments.
• Track import operations with freight forwarders, couriers, and customs brokers.
• Review import documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, contracts, payment confirmations, tracking numbers, customs entries ( pedimentos ), declarations of value, NOM exemption letters, and other related documents.
• Ensure compliance with Mexican customs law, import requirements, NOMs, tariff classifications, and customs documentation obligations.
• Support tariff classification reviews and identify applicable import duties, restrictions, NOMs, and documentation requirements.
• Keep purchasing and import documentation organized and up to date.
• Communicate and follow up with suppliers in China, the United States, and other countries.
• Compare suppliers, prices, delivery times, shipping costs, and import duties.
• Coordinate with the engineering, production, warehouse, and administration teams.
• Identify risks, missing documents, and inconsistencies before an operation moves forward.

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of Mexican customs law and import compliance requirements.
• Experience in purchasing, imports, logistics, customs, or international trade.
• Intermediate to advanced English proficiency, particularly in written communication.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage and follow up on multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets.
• Clear and effective communication with suppliers, customs brokers, freight forwarders, and internal teams.
• Sound judgment when reviewing documents and identifying errors.
• Experience working with Mexican customs brokers.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with suppliers in China.
• Knowledge of tariff codes, NOMs, customs entries ( pedimentos ), declarations of value, and other customs documentation.
• Experience purchasing electronic components, manufacturing materials, or technology products.
• Familiarity with Incoterms.
