Product and Process Engineer

Role Purpose

• Functions as a technical resource and serve as owner for Released Products and Standard Processes across Value Streams responsible for product integrity, reliability, and Change Control of released OCS products of assigned product lines.
• Responsible for ensuring fit/form/function of existing products.
• Responsible to participate on product teams to resolve performance and customer-related issues and cost reductions.
• Supports project execution between development and plant manufacturing as an impartial 3rd party with the expertise to balance risks between business demands and product assurance.

Key Responsibilities

• Clarify, document, and understand product specifications and applications.
• Lead rigorous root cause analysis using engineering principles for products and standard processes.
• Evaluate standard process performance through troubleshooting and assess product changes via qualification and change approval, balancing speed to market and profitability.
• Support and execute qualification of cost-reduction opportunities for products and standard processes across the value stream.
• Respond and support promptly and effectively to customer and commercial product change requests.
• Ensure fit, form, and function (FFF) through test plans, design control, and change approval, balancing speed to market and profitability. Review and approve or reject permanent or temporary changes impacting FFF of released products.
• Define and lead qualification test plans for material changes and product requalification. Review and approve or reject changes to released product configuration matrices. Assess and validate requests for minor product modifications and special configurations.
• Partner with Product Development (FAST) on rapid adaptations of released products.
• Collaborate with technical teams to identify root causes of design or performance failures.
• Document and communicate product and process risk assessments, impacts, and resolutions.
• Apply advanced root cause methodologies (MEE, Kepner-Tregoe, etc.) to identify failure modes. Support and validate cost-reduction initiatives throughout the product lifecycle.
• Analyze product cost and identify savings via alternative materials or suppliers. Participate in divisional cost-reduction programs.
• Monitor and analyze CTQ attributes impacting FFF of released products.

Experiences and Education

Education.

• Bachelor’s degree in technical area/Mechanical, Industrial, Electromechanical or Engineering degree

Work Experience

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in manufacturing, development, product, or process engineering
