About the Role

We are seeking an entrepreneurial and business-driven Managing Director, Engineering Services & Machine Building (New Business) to lead the creation, growth, and long-term success of a new services business designed to unlock the value of Metalsa's engineering and manufacturing expertise.

This executive will be responsible for identifying attractive markets, defining scalable service offerings, building commercial capabilities, and creating a profitable business model that generates significant revenue growth over the coming years. The role combines business creation, strategic leadership, commercial development, operational execution, and investment decision-making.

Reporting to the VP of Engineering and working closely with senior leadership, this individual will build and lead a new business platform focused on industrial engineering solutions, automation, machine building, equipment modernization, engineering services, prototyping, testing, and validation capabilities for external customers

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the growth strategy for Metalsa, creating a scalable and sustainable services business.
• Lead the identification, validation, and prioritization of new market opportunities and service offerings.
• Build and manage a diversified portfolio of engineering, automation, and industrial service solutions.
• Drive commercial growth through customer acquisition, strategic partnerships, and market expansion initiatives.
• Establish the business operating model, including sourcing, delivery, organizational structure, and financial management.
• Own the full P&L, investment strategy, profitability, and long-term business performance
• Evaluate organic and inorganic growth opportunities, including partnerships, joint ventures, and acquisitions.
• Create data-driven decision processes to assess business opportunities, market attractiveness, and investment priorities.
• Build and develop a high-performing multidisciplinary organization aligned with business growth stages.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Commercial, Finance, Procurement, and Strategy teams to accelerate business development.
• Present business progress, investment proposals, and strategic recommendations to executive leadership.
• Establish strong relationships across industry networks, customers, suppliers, and strategic partners.

What We Are Looking For

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• More than 20 years of progressive leadership experience in industrial, engineering services, capital equipment, automation, systems integration, or related environments.
• Proven track record building, scaling, or transforming businesses with direct accountability for revenue and profitability.
• Strong experience leading P&L management, investment decisions, and business growth initiatives.
• Demonstrated success in launching new market offerings and winning customers in competitive environments.
• Experience defining business models, go-to-market strategies, and operational delivery structures.
• Strong strategic thinking combined with hands-on execution capabilities.
• Executive-level stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Advanced English proficiency.

Preferred Qualifications

• MBA or Master's Degree in Business, Finance, Strategy, or related field.
• Experience with mergers and acquisitions, strategic partnerships, or joint ventures.
• Background in automotive, industrial manufacturing, automation, engineering services, or capital equipment industries.
• Experience operating across North America and global markets.
• Experience building new ventures or business units within large organizations.
