Legal Counsel LATAM

We are seeking a highly motivated and business-oriented Counsel to provide hands-on legal support across VF’s brands and business functions in Mexico and Latin America. This role is ideal for an attorney with a strong legal background who thrives in a fast-paced commercial environment and enjoys partnering with cross-functional teams to enable business growth while effectively managing legal risk.

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as legal partner for business stakeholders across Mexico and throughout Latin America.
• Draft, review, negotiate, and manage a wide variety of civil and commercial agreements, involving distribution, franchise, licensing, marketing, professional services, intellectual property, consulting, collaboration, supply chain, procurement, real estate, wholesale customer, and confidentiality agreements.
• Advise on complex commercial transactions and business operations involving multiple Latin American jurisdictions, balancing legal risk with business objectives.
• Support corporate governance activities across Mexico and Latin America, including subsidiary management, maintenance of corporate records, governance documentation, powers of attorney, and coordination with external counsel to ensure compliance with local corporate law requirements.
• Provide practical and strategic legal guidance on marketing campaigns, consumer promotions, activation events, influencer marketing, advertising, consumer protection, intellectual property and regulatory compliance matters.
• Manage and coordinate dispute resolution with external counsel as needed.
• Build strong relationships with cross-functional stakeholders and senior business leaders to facilitate efficient decision-making and risk management.
• Develop and deliver training programs, policies, templates, and guidance materials to proactively address legal risks and improve operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with Legal Operations and other functions to streamline legal processes and leverage technology to improve service delivery.

Qualifications

• Law degree and admission to practice law in Mexico, in good standing.
• 5-7+ years of relevant legal experience, a combination of law firm and in-house experience is preferred.
• Demonstrated experience drafting, negotiating, and advising on a broad range of civil and commercial agreements.
• Experience on corporate governance matters.
• Experience supporting regional operations across Central America and/or Latin America. LATAM regional experience is strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of commercial, marketing, advertising, consumer protection, distribution, intellectual property, trade, licensing, and related business matters.
• Experience managing legal issues involving multiple jurisdictions and coordinating with external counsel across the region.
• Ability to independently manage complex projects and competing priorities in a dynamic business environment.
• Strong business acumen and ability to translate legal concepts into practical business advice.
• A strong work ethic and diligent attention to details.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to convey a positive, can-do attitude.

Skills & Other Requirements:

• A practical, hands-on, approach is a must – focusing on being a business partner, valued team member and collaborator, enabling business teams to assess risks and make informed business decisions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish. Advanced English level is a must.
• Must have strong teambuilding, facilitation, organizational, planning and time management skills, and a proven results-orientation.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Continuously develop skills and knowledge of marketplace through research, due diligence, training, bench-marking and other means.
