SENIOR ENGINEERING MANAGER (Ciudad Juárez)

Overview

Sr Engineering Manager role in Juarez City, Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico. This position supports manufacturing and operations leadership within the organization.

Responsibilities

• The supervision it receives is essentially administrative, with assignments, objectives and limits given in general terms.
• Has full technical and administrative responsibility to interpret, organize, execute, and coordinate areas of responsibility.
• Establishes operational goals and objectives in line with corporate strategies; prepares programs for projects and coordinates activities to ensure achievement of corporate goals.
• Provides a leadership role in the development and implementation of world class manufacturing standards (TAI, JAI, CFM).
• Maintains liaison between individuals and areas within the organization, with responsibility to act independently on techniques or issues related to the area.
• Implements target systems and procedures to ensure equipment and machinery meet required performance and utilization; reviews machinery and equipment requirements based on production schedules; determines and monitors capital goods improvements.
• Ensures the introduction of new products in compliance with operational guidelines and objectives; monitors alignment with master plans related to IGF.
• Understands Materials and Logistics Management; identifies needs and coordinates development and support of systems (Materials Management, Quality Assurance, Human Resources, Information Management, and interdependent partnering).
• Ensures the right level of manufacturing, materials, and personnel; develops capital investment and operating expense budgets with variance analysis and corrective actions.
• Collaborates with marketing and sales to provide product improvements and respond to customer needs.
• Complies with Quality System Regulations (QSR) and ISO requirements; reviews and recommends changes to policies and procedures as needed.
• Leads projects related to continuous improvement and regulatory compliance within the business unit.
• Makes decisions based on understanding multiple departments and their interrelations; fosters cross-functional collaboration.
• Manages operations to achieve CIP and COGS initiatives; applies Lean Manufacturing and Process Excellence (Six Sigma) methods.
• Provides leadership to support Diversity initiatives; develops and implements environmental, safety and health programs.
• Oversees Engineering Change Management; controls Product Design/Processes/Equipment; communicates business issues to higher management; ensures health, safety, and environmental practices are followed.
• Ensures staff compliance with Company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices; ensures resources are available and in good condition.
• Performs other duties as needed.

Qualifications / Requirements

• Academic degree in Engineering or related sciences; Master's degree preferred.
• Eight to ten years of experience in Operations, Manufacturing, or related activities, preferably in medical products or pharmaceuticals; minimum three years at managerial level.
• Knowledge of new product launches, construction and start of operations, Quality Assurance requirements, GMP, Safety and Environment, building maintenance, and Finance/Human Resources planning and development.
• Experience supervising people with technical skills (minimum 2 years).
• Bilingual English/Spanish.
• Financial analysis, budgeting, and cost knowledge preferred.

• Ability to respond effectively to sensitive complaints and to write and present complex topics clearly to various audiences.
• Skills in PC software; knowledge of JD Edwards (JDE) preferred.
• Project management skills; ability to lead teams in different locations on projects.
• Ability to negotiate with government agencies; effectively manage conflicts and resolve them diplomatically.
• Ability to translate corporate goals into successful strategies; strong problem solving, interpersonal, negotiation, leadership, and financial analysis skills.
• Knowledge of products and operations processes; knowledge of Quality systems and document control.
