3PL Claims Specialist

We are looking for a detail-oriented, organized 3PL Claims Specialist who will investigate, evaluate, and resolve freight-related claims and ensure accuracy and timely settlements with carriers. Key duties include managing claim documentation, coordinating with the logistics department, accounting, and carriers, and recovering financial losses.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate, manage and track freight claims, which can include damages, shortage, temperature issues, loss, etc.
- Manage the entire claims process from intake to resolution.
- Gather documents like PODs, BOLs, invoices, and photos to support claims.
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Communicate with carriers, customers, and our internal team to resolve issues.
- Ensure the accuracy of customer data / claim filing and protect the company’s financial interests.
Negotiation
- Review carrier responses and negotiate settlements with carriers to recover losses or resolve billing discrepancies.
Data and Reporting
- Analyze claims data to identify trends, patterns, or anomalies, and generate reports for management.
Requirements
- Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- 1–3 years of experience handling freight, cargo, or transportation claims within a logistics or 3PL environment.
- Familiarity with freight documentation such as BOL, POD, and carrier invoices.
- Experience communicating and negotiating directly with carriers and shippers to resolve claim disputes.
- Working knowledge of domestic and cross-border shipping processes (U.S.–Mexico preferred).
- Experience collaborating with accounting and logistics teams to reconcile claim settlements and recover losses.
- Skills & Characteristics
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and communication skills are critical to success in this role.
- Comfortable juggling multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Proficient in logistics software and experienced with supply chain management systems, along with strong Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical skills to evaluate claims data, identify root causes, and recommend preventive actions.
- Highly organized and methodical in managing documentation and claim records from intake to closure.
