Senior Sourcing Manager - Customs, CCA, ODCs

Job Overview

As an SSM you will be responsible for purchasing a specific portion of logistics services, sourcing and supporting customs, CCA, ODCs, Drayage and Air Transportation Services. You will conduct purchasing activities to support sourcing, contract and supplier management activities in line with departmental strategies and objectives. You will support and execute logistics purchasing and daily operations for material shipments to assembly, component plants and/or warehouse locations domestically. The role requires high autonomy, strong analytical skills, and collaboration across functions.

Key Responsibilities

• Sourcing and contracting activities: strategy and management of sourcing events; coordination of Pre‑RFQ and RFQ package components, including terms & conditions, SOR, and bid analytics; collaboration with legal to draft and improve contract terms; leadership sourcing recommendations; documentation management in accordance with GM Audit Services.
• Daily supplier interface activities on all commercial items.
• Support commercial budget and cost‑reduction initiatives, including joint process improvement.
• Lead logistics supplier management initiatives such as Strategic Supplier Engagement.
• Maintain relationships with strategic suppliers, serving as a focal point for commercial issue resolution.
• Develop and review supplier KPIs; lead Quarterly Business Reviews with key suppliers.
• Perform rate‑management activities: spot buys, fuel surcharge updates, customs tax, contract pricing adjustments, rate analysis and payment issue inquiries.
• Cross‑functional collaboration with operations, network engineering, finance, technical accounting and program teams to develop balanced recommendations.
• Support cost studies with future program and network optimization teams for new vehicle launches and life‑cycle optimizations.
• Manage and keep contract pipelines updated.
• Operate and solve problems with a high degree of autonomy while working with multiple functional stakeholders.

Knowledge and Experience

• Strong multifaceted experience in logistics and supply chains, including knowledge of various logistics modes and supply‑base dynamics.
• Strong commercial negotiation experience.
• Robust experience in complex bid and contract management.
• Data analysis and bid‑management software experience.

Skills

• Strong purchasing negotiation skills in logistics or related services.
• Understanding of network‑optimization concepts and processes.
• Technical capabilities in data mining and analysis, including SQL, Tableau and MS Access (preferred).
• Project management, analytical capability, and ability to navigate ambiguous situations.
• Senior leadership presentation, oral and written communication, interpersonal skills.
• Independent and cross‑functional team working.
• Detail‑oriented, data‑driven, high process focus; energetic and passionate about complex supply‑chain solutions.

Education and Credentials

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, or related fields (required).
• Master’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, or related fields (preferred).
• 5+ years of relevant work experience (preferred).
• Finance/Engineering/Logistics certifications (preferred).

Other Requirements

• English: Advanced proficiency.
• Availability to travel & visa: Not supported. No immigration sponsorship will be provided.
• Hybrid location: Selected candidate will report to a specific location at least 3 times a week. Travel <25% of time.
• No relocation benefits.
