Senior Engineering Manager

Role Purpose

The Senior Engineering Manager leads teams of Product Development, NPI, and Process Engineering engineers responsible for production line transfers, design-for-manufacturability execution, tooling readiness, and sustaining engineering activities for power connectors and cable assemblies within a high-volume production environment. The role bridges Global Product Development and Operations, ensuring that new and existing power interconnect products are released, industrialized, and scaled into robust manufacturing solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage Mexicali engineering teams across product development, NPI, process engineering, testing, and DFM/DFA.
• Own execution of new product introductions (NPI) and production line transfers, including new programs, site transfers, and dual-sourcing.
• Manage engineering releases and changes, ensuring timely and controlled implementation into manufacturing.
• Provide technical oversight of CAD design activities and engineering analysis supporting product development and NPI.
• Define and optimize manufacturing processes, including assembly flow, station balance, cycle time, and process capability.
• Lead tooling and fixture reviews to ensure designs meet requirements for quality, safety, capacity, and robustness.
• Drive product design changes and derivatives to improve manufacturability, yield, cost, and reliability.
• Serve as the primary technical interface between Global Product Development, Operations, Quality, and Supply Chain.
• Approve engineering solutions for process controls, tooling, detection/prevention methods, rework strategies, and validation plans.
• Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions on complex product, process, tooling, and launch issues.
• Ensure effective testing, verification, sample builds, First Article approvals, and NPI / transfer validation readiness.
• Develop team capability in process engineering, industrialization, DFM/DFA, and structured problem solving.
• Manage priorities, resources, and technical risk across multiple product development, NPI, and sustaining programs.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering (Master’s preferred).
• 10+ years of experience in product development, NPI, and process engineering, preferably for power connectors, cable assemblies, or power interconnects.
• Proven experience leading engineering teams supporting new product launches in high-volume production environments.
• Strong technical background in CAD-based design, engineering analysis, tooling, crimping systems, and cable assemblies.
• Demonstrated success with engineering change management, industrialization, and production transfers.
