Role Purpose

Lead the development, optimization, and technical control of polymer extrusion processes, ensuring operational efficiency, product quality, and continuous improvement through strategic use of materials knowledge, process technology, and technical leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide leadership in problem solving and technical expertise to ensure timely resolution of short‑term process and equipment issues, and higher‑level troubleshooting.
• Direct other technicians and engineers, coach junior engineers, and guide maintenance personnel.
• Apply general engineering and manufacturing skills and knowledge, understand theories and fundamentals, and lead projects to root‑cause issues and implement permanent solutions.
• Lead disciplined project management across multiple stages of innovation for new product, process, cost‑reduction, and capacity‑improvement initiatives.
• Recommend and implement permanent solutions to long‑term performance issues, improving existing and new technologies and processes.
• Develop and lead areas of the manufacturing and/or technical roadmap, documenting material, process, and/or equipment to protect and contribute to intellectual‑property improvements.
• Use statistical data analysis and DOE in process problem solving and process/product improvement.
• Identify, justify, and implement cost‑reduction, capacity‑enhancement, capital‑equipment, and other improvement initiatives.
• Introduce new products and technologies.
• Meet all environmental, safety, and health requirements.
• Develop SME knowledge of material, process, and/or equipment in focused areas of manufacturing or engineering.
• Track the effectiveness of projects and implemented cost reductions using up‑time, cost, productivity, and other appropriate measures.
• Serve as a leader and subject‑matter expert in process control/discipline, SPC, SQC, OEE, designed experiments, and other performance‑excellence processes (green and black‑belt skills).
• Design and/or specify new equipment or modify existing equipment to continuously improve process performance.
• Coordinate installation, debugging, and initial operation of new equipment and systems.

Required Experience & Education

• Supervise and validate critical extrusion parameters (temperature, pressure, speed, cooling profile).
• Troubleshoot complex technical issues related to material behavior (PVC, PE, PP) during processing.
• Create technical documentation of processes and operating conditions.
• Train and develop technical and operational teams in extrusion best practices.
• Lead continuous‑improvement projects focused on efficiency, quality, and cost reduction.
• Sustain improvement of OEE in extrusion lines.
• Support production teams in process stabilization and scrap reduction.
• Apply root‑cause analysis procedures (5Whys, Ishikawa).

Desired Education

• Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering or related.

Work Experience

5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering.
