Software Test Engineer (Santiago de Querétaro)

Job Summary

The Software Test Engineer will facilitate the Software Manager / Test Lead and Project Stakeholders by identifying and communicating issues in the design and implementation of software as early in the development life cycle as possible. The role will report on software state, trends, and risks to the project, analyze and report on test coverage, improve testing efficiency, highlight opportunities for test improvement, and identify new tools and methods.

Responsibilities

• Requirements Analysis and Test case Creation: Using customer requirements, internal system and software requirements, automotive norms and personal experience as a basis, develop a comprehensive set of software acceptance tests to ensure the system meets customer requirements and relevant international standards.
• Liaise with software team members in defining test requirements and use standard tools to implement comprehensive test coverage.
• Develop test setups to support each individual test case.
• Test execution by manual and automation.
• Complete and report on manual and automated tests.
• Compile, analyze, and generate test reports.
• Issue reporting and advocacy: Accurately capture all information required for the team to prioritize, diagnose, and fix; represent the customer in highlighting critical issues.
• Continuous improvement and innovation: Identify opportunities for test improvement, industry best practices, areas of lost efficiency and propose solutions, new testing tools and methodologies, apply the correct test method, and select test cases with respect to the project plan.
• Ensure the test coverage of the software architecture verification criteria related to software integration test plus standard integration test requirements along with the integration test plan.
• Integrate FUSA metrics threshold values.
• Responsible for the artifacts of the role.
• Specify test cases for the hardware/software interfaces.
• Report found issues into the ticket management system.
• Hands‑on experience with integration test, ECU‑based projects, Python, CPU load, RAM, ROM, fault injection and resource utilization test, requirement‑based test method and strategy.
• Responsible for handling software under test and any other software related to it, such as COTS, RTOS, BSP.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years software test validation experience in BSW, communication, network, diagnostics, FOTA/OTA, cybersecurity (fuzz and MAC), and end‑user functionalities (parking, braking, warning, etc.).
• Knowledge of embedded software and systems.
• Knowledge of MIL, SIL, and HIL test environment.
• Previous knowledge of Vector Canoe, Castle, and Vosterx HIL bench test bench.
• Knowledge of GIT and Doors.
• Good programming skills in C, Python, CAPL, and test automation scripts.
• Knowledge of software testing techniques and processes.
• ISTQB Foundation level.
• Previous experience building test automation solutions.
• Knowledge of process models, e.g., Automotive SPICE.
• Ability to react, respond quickly to issues, and think on your feet.
• Mindset of continuous improvement.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
