Controls Engineer

What is your role?

As a Controls Engineer, you will provide technical support for manufacturing operations through automation, electrical controls, and process improvement initiatives. This role is focused on improving equipment performance, supporting production and maintenance teams, and leading controls-related activities for capital and continuous improvement projects. You will also help ensure reliable operation of plant control systems and contribute to standardization and long-term equipment strategies.

Major responsibilities and tasks of the position:

• Support manufacturing operations with expertise in PLCs, HMIs, drives, sensors, and electrical control system
• Lead and support controls-related activities for process improvement, cost reduction, and capital projects
• Troubleshoot recurring equipment and process issues, recommending and implementing long-term solutions
• Develop and maintain control architectures, electrical documentation, and system integration requirements

What do you need to have?

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field
• 2 to 4 years of experience in manufacturing or industrial automation environments
• Experience programming PLCs such as Allen-Bradley, ControlLogix, Siemens S7, or similar platforms
• Experience with HMI design and implementation, as well as ladder logic programming
• Strong understanding of electrical schematics, control systems integration, drives, sensors, and safety systems
• Experience troubleshooting industrial equipment and supporting continuous improvement initiatives
• Fluent English

Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network.
