Senior Decision Scientist

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Decision Scientist with a techno-functional profile, combining hands‑on expertise in SQL, Python, Power BI, Azure, and Databricks with the ability to lead analytics delivery and drive business conversations. The ideal candidate will have experience in CPG/Retail , strong consulting and stakeholder management skills, and the ability to translate business needs into data-driven solutions that generate actionable insights and measurable business impact.

Responsibilities

Business Problem Solving & Analytics: Apply problem-solving methodologies to propose creative solutions to business problems. Design and develop data-driven analyses using statistical and advanced analytics methodologies. Develop models, recommend insights, formulate hypotheses, and run experiments to validate them. Identify potential obstacles and alternative solutions.

Analytics Delivery: Lead analytics delivery by guiding the team in data synthesis, modeling techniques, and the development of actionable insights, implications, and recommendations to address client business issues and identify opportunities.

Project Management: Independently lead at least one client engagement and execute end-to-end client projects. Manage regular client updates and meetings, stakeholder relationships, data sources, project risks and failure analysis, execution tracking, and success metrics.

Client Relationship Management: Build strong client relationships, develop networks, and act as a trusted advisor and thought partner. Anticipate business problems and deliver high-quality solutions. Engage with clients to identify opportunities to institutionalize analytics across their organizations.

Business Planning & Client Impact: Drive client-specific business planning, forecasting, budgeting, and measurement. Deliver insights, impact, and innovation through solutions that improve KPIs critical to clients.

Sales Support & Account Growth: Identify opportunities to expand existing projects and develop new solutions in collaboration with senior engagement managers. Support sales teams with RFPs, sales pitches, solution scoping, and the definition of delivery approaches.

Coaching & Team Development: Coach and develop team members in analytics fundamentals, problem-solving, project management, and client relationship management.

Cross-functional Collaboration: Work effectively with sales and marketing, capability teams, and enabling functions to deliver greater value to clients.

Requirements

Experience: 5.6 to 10 years of overall professional experience, including hands‑on experience delivering analytics projects.

Industry Experience: Experience in CPG/Retail is required.

Technical Expertise: Hands‑on experience with SQL, Python, Power BI (PBI), Azure, and Databricks.

Advanced Analytics: Strong knowledge of statistical and machine learning techniques, including regression, general linear models, segmentation, and forecasting.

Data Management: Knowledge of data conversion strategies, data capture, source-to-target definitions for ETL/data flows, data quality, and database management.

Project & Stakeholder Management: Strong project management, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to manage project risks and multiple workstreams.

Business & Consulting Skills: Strong business acumen and the ability to structure business problems, lead business conversations, and translate analytics into actionable recommendations.

Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Methodologies: Knowledge of Business Analysis (BA), consulting, and Agile project management.

Education: B.E./B.Tech./M.Tech. in Computer Science or a related technical degree, or equivalent.

Nice to Have

Experience in CPG/Retail Analytics, particularly Marketing Analytics, CRM Analytics, and Digital Media/Social Media Analytics.

Experience in sales or marketing, including exposure to marketing effectiveness, shopper and category management, strategic revenue management, market size estimation, business growth strategy, sales and operations planning, merchandising, and store operations.

Provide domain and analytics leadership as a consulting leader embedded within the client organization.

Act as a trusted advisor to clients, identifying opportunities to scale existing projects and develop new solutions.

Deliver innovative analytics solutions that generate measurable business impact, including improvements in client-critical KPIs and NPS.

Design and review new solution concepts and lead the delivery of high-impact analytics solutions and programs for global clients.

Apply domain and analytics expertise to business challenges and recommend actionable insights and solutions.

Demonstrate strong stakeholder engagement, including the ability to engage at the C‑suite level.

Quantify business value for clients and develop mutually beneficial commercial propositions while consistently meeting financial goals.
