Responsibilities
- Establish action plans for the team that is your responsibility, assigning strategic functions to facilitate the workflow.
- Supervise and evaluate procedures designed to upgrade production methods, equipment utilization and the quality of the finished goods.
- Conduct performance evaluations to your direct staff and recommend relevant development/succession/training plans to foster the growth of the department.
- Plan investigations to determine the effectiveness of manpower utilization and projects labor and staffing needs.
- Lead R&D meetings in relation to NPI, transfers, expansions, development of product engineering concepts, projects, manufacturing, among others.
- Review engineering designs for customer requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement in quality and value through awareness, objectives, goals, communication, and target setting with security, quality, services, and cost.
- Formulate, negotiate, and manage the department's objectives and budgets as well as the strategies and action plans to achieve those objectives.
- Ensure accuracy of forward‑looking information through effective planning and awareness of future events.
- Drive team members to continuously improve key operational metrics and achieve organizational goals.
- Validate and authorize Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) of the production functions.
- Select, train, motivate and develop the production staff acting as a facilitator.
- Align and collaborate effectively with corporate offices.
- Direct staff to ensure the correct launch of BOMs, routings, test equipment, PMs, set up, packaging, drawings, pilot tests, control plans, among others.
- Establish metrics and monitor project progress, providing timely feedback to staff to ensure compliance with established objectives.
- Direct continuous improvement projects in conjunction with Operational Excellence (OpEx).
- Interact with corporate functional areas (R&D, Marketing, Quality, Distribution, Customer Care) ensuring that internal/external customers receive answers in a timely manner.
- Establish operating procedures and standards (SOPs) for all engineering functions.
- Keep job descriptions updated according to the approved procedure.
Qualifications
- Degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Electromechanical or Electronic Engineering.
- Master in senior management or managerial administration (desirable).
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Manager or Director of Engineering in a high‑volume assembly industry (desirable: medical industry) with extensive administrative knowledge in manufacturing processes.
- Advanced English fluency that allows project presentations and participation in negotiation processes.
- Knowledge in administration and budget control, Lean manufacturing tools, Six Sigma, Project Management, Supply Chain, Reengineering, MTM.
