Job Summary
The Tool Shop Supervisor is responsible to manage all tool shop activities, including the maintenance, repair, and fabrication of molds, dies, jigs, and fixtures. The role oversees toolmakers and machinist, assigns daily tasks, and ensures work is performed safely, efficiently, and to quality standards. Monitors tool performance, tooling inventory, and supports OEE improvement.
Main Responsibilities:
· Lead and coordinate the day-to-day operations of the tool room, guaranteeing the achievement of volume, quality, cost, and delivery targets.
· Ensure strict adherence to occupational health, safety, and environmental regulations on site, fostering a zero incident safety culture.
· Analyze and report on key performance indicators (OEE, efficiency, rejects, downtime, MTBF, MTTR, etc.) and drive action plans for continuous improvement.
· Management of new tooling requisitions from prototype or complex designs through mass production.
· Responsible for improvements, major repairs, and Engineering Change Notice to the molds.
· Implementation of preventive maintenance for production molds.
· Develop manufacturing processes by studying product requirements including but not limited to researching, designing, modifying, testing manufacturing methods and equipment.
· Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing tooling and process.
· Implementation of quality and safety improvements in training for tool room team.
· Generation and implementation of cost reduction ideas.
· Responsible for managing the Tool Room department and collaborate on projects with customers or internal colleagues, new tool and mold development, improvement of manufacturing processes, and maintenance of production of die and molds.
· Assure product quality by implementing testing methods, equipment, and tools.
· Investigate process losses and implement corrective actions to support continuous improvement.
Requirements:
• Strong background in Tooling Engineering
• BA/BS/MBA or equivalent work experience
• Fluent English
• Customer Service skills
• Proficiency in using design software tools, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, NX
• Hard tool y Stamping Hard tool
• Experience in automotive, aerospace or high-volume manufacturing preferred
• Excellent leadership, communication, and team management skills
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities under pressure
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing, 5s, and continuous improvement.
• Proficient in reading blueprints, CAD drawings, and technical documentation
• Green Belt / Six Sigma certification preferred. Strong proficiency in Excel (statistics, data management, formulas, pivot tables) and PowerPoint (executive-level presentations). Knowledge of quality management systems and continuous improvement tools.
