Senior Insurance Tax Specialist (Cuauhtémoc)

Role Purpose

Lead the tax function for HSBC Seguros in Mexico by providing strategic tax advisory to the business and technology teams to define and ensure the correct tax treatment and calculation for products and transactions; ensuring timely and accurate compliance with all tax obligations.

Responsibilities

• Provide tax advisory to the business, including defining the tax treatment for new products, performing reviews to assure the correct application of tax definitions on current products, and providing tax specifications and clarifications to the technology area for tax calculations related to products.
• Provide an overview to the CFO regarding the Effective Tax Rate, current and deferred taxes and rationales.
• Carry out compliance activities to ensure accuracy and timely filing of tax obligations (Income Tax, VAT, SIPRED, informative returns), IFRS tax reporting, forecasting current & deferred taxes, profit sharing, reconciliation, and substantiation of tax accounts; coordinate the transfer pricing study with external advisors and provide required information; define tax treatment for payments to foreign suppliers.
• Provide tax information for external audit performance, including tax calculations and the financial notes related to taxes.
• Address requirements from local and federal tax authorities.
• Handle controversy matters related to tax audits, including administrative appeals and conclusive agreements.
• Optimize tax compliance processes through implementation of technology and partnerships with external vendors.
• Manage tax risk.
• Identify new tax regulations impacting the insurance company, inform the business, and raise tax requests for adoption/implementation.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in tax insurance matters and companies, including advisory, compliance, and audits. (MUST requirement).
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or Economic Areas.
• Desirable experience in a Big‑4 firm.
• Leadership, communication, teamwork, goal‑oriented, proactive, strong organizational and analytical skills, attention to detail, and decision‑making abilities to propose solutions to the CFO and the Head of Tax.
• English skills – written and oral, intermediate to fluent.
