Department Overview

Our team is responsible for the McDonald's Digital Loyalty Platform, the technology foundation that powers the McDonald's loyalty program and customer engagement ecosystem. We design, build, and operate scalable backend services and platform capabilities that enable customers to earn, track, and redeem rewards seamlessly across digital channels.The department focuses on delivering reliable, secure, and high-performance solutions that support millions of customer interactions while ensuring an exceptional loyalty experience. We work closely with product, digital, marketing, data, and market teams to introduce new loyalty features, promotional campaigns, personalized rewards, and customer engagement initiatives that drive customer retention and business growth.Through continuous innovation, robust engineering practices, and operational excellence, we ensure the loyalty platform remains resilient, scalable, and adaptable to evolving business needs. Our mission is to create the backend capabilities that empower McDonald's to deliver a best-in-class digital loyalty experience, fostering stronger customer relationships and increasing long-term brand loyalty.

Duties

• Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performing applications and APIs using .NET technologies.
• Build and enhance software solutions that support McDonald's digital loyalty customer experience platform.Collaborate with Engineering Managers, Product Managers, Architects, Quality Engineers, and cross-functional engineering teams to deliver business value and high-quality software solutions.
• Lead feature delivery, story decomposition, technical mentoring, coordinate multiple engineers on an initiative and managing technical risks within a feature areaParticipate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, solution design, development, testing, deployment, and production support.
• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs, microservices, and event-driven integrations supporting both internal systems and external business partners.Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following established engineering standards and best practices.
• Perform code reviews and contribute to improving code quality, system reliability, and development processes.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve software defects, performance issues, and production incidents.Support cloud-native application development, modernization initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts.
• Implement automated testing and CI/CD best practices to improve software quality and delivery velocity.
• Contribute to system observability, monitoring, logging, and operational excellence initiatives.
• Work within Agile delivery teams, participating in sprint planning, estimation, backlog refinement, and team ceremonies.
• Collaborate with globally distributed teams to support new capabilities, platform enhancements, partner integrations, and market activations.
• Assist in evaluating new technologies and engineering approaches to improve scalability, maintainability, security, and developer productivity.
• Support technical documentation, knowledge sharing, and mentoring activities within the engineering team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of professional software development experience building enterprise applications and services.
• Experience developing applications using C#, .NET, and related technologies.
• Experience designing, developing, and consuming RESTful APIs and web services.
• Experience developing cloud-native applications on GCP and AWS.
• Experience building microservices and event-driven architectures.
• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Experience working with relational and/or NoSQL databases.
• Experience with source control systems and collaborative development practices.
• Understanding of software design principles, object-oriented programming, and common architectural patterns.
• Experience troubleshooting application issues and supporting production systems.
• Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies and participation in Scrum ceremonies.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with distributed systems, integration platforms, and high-volume transactional applications.
• Knowledge of application monitoring, logging, observability, and operational excellence practices.
• Experience implementing automated testing strategies, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
• Experience working with messaging technologies such as Kafka, Pub/Sub, or similar event-streaming platforms.
