Filling & Packaging Field Service Engineer - Automation

At GEA Group, a global leader in process engineering, we are looking for an Automation Field Service Engineer to join our Nutrition Plant Engineering (NPE) division, focused on Filling & Packaging equipment .

This role is ideal for automation engineers who enjoy working in the field, solving real-time technical challenges directly at customer production sites — rather than being behind a desk.

What You’ll Do

• Provide automation support during preventive and corrective maintenance activities on filling and packaging machines.
• Diagnose and resolve issues related to PLC logic, HMI interfaces, sensors, servo drives, and industrial communication networks .
• Lead automation commissioning activities during equipment start-ups, overhauls, upgrades, and major service interventions.
• Provide on-site and remote technical support to customers, minimizing equipment downtime and ensuring production continuity.
• Train customer personnel on the proper operation, troubleshooting, and basic diagnostics of automation systems.
• Represent GEA professionally at customer sites, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Electrical, Automation, or Mechatronics Engineering .
• English proficiency at B2 level or higher .
• 3+ years of experience as an Automation Engineer , preferably within the Filling & Packaging industry .
• Hands-on experience with PLC programming , particularly Siemens, CODESYS, or Rockwell.
• Experience with SCADA systems , such as Siemens, Schneider, Wonderware, or Rockwell FactoryTalk.
• Solid knowledge of electrical systems, industrial controls, and pneumatics .
• Willingness and availability to travel extensively and work on-site at customer locations .
