Creative Strategist - AI

At Pencil, we are driving innovation in advertising technology through our state‑of‑the‑art SaaS product, which harnesses Generative AI to redefine content creation. Our mission is to make AI the default in advertising without replacing creative people. To achieve this, we need to make sure that our technology isn’t just in the hands of big brands — we want to empower small businesses and creative individuals too.

As Creative AI Strategist, you will sit at the intersection of AI capability, product innovation, and client transformation. Your mission is to turn business challenges into strategic AI solutions while staying grounded in what our GenAI platform can do today — and inspired by what it will do tomorrow.

You will help clients understand how AI can transform the way they create, test, and scale advertising. From identifying high‑value AI use cases to shaping new workflows and influencing product direction, you’ll play a key role in defining how organisations adopt AI to work smarter, faster, and more effectively.

You’ll shape the future of how clients and teams use our tools, from identifying AI opportunities and designing scalable AI‑driven workflows to guiding our product and strategy teams toward more impactful AI‑powered solutions.

Key responsibilities:

  • Translate client business challenges into AI‑driven strategies that maximise the capabilities of Pencil’s platform.
  • Spot high impact opportunities hiding in client challenges, and design clever, product‑driven ways to solve them.
  • Help clients understand and adopt AI‑enabled ways of working, including automation, experimentation, and data‑driven creative optimisation.
  • Work closely with our Agents team to design and build scalable AI workflows and systems that reduce manual effort and unlock faster, more effective content production.
  • Act as the connective tissue between clients, Enablement, and Product and ensure we’re building and delivering in sync.
  • Translate the product and AI roadmap into clear strategic opportunities for clients and internal teams.
  • Contribute strategic insight that informs the evolution of Pencil’s AI capabilities and product direction.
  • Mentor and inspire others, sharing expertise and building capability across enablement teams.
  • Continuously improve processes, finding smarter, faster, or more scalable ways to deliver impact.
  • Represent Pencil’s values and ways of working in every client interaction, collaboration, and strategic decision.

Your background:

  • You’ve built a career at the intersection of AI, strategy, technology, and innovation, ideally in an agency, tech, or SaaS environment.
  • You have a strong understanding of generative AI, automation, and AI‑enabled workflows, particularly in marketing, content, or creative production.
  • You can translate complex AI capabilities into practical business solutions that clients and teams can easily understand and adopt.
  • You can work independently on complex, high impact projects, using your judgment to select the best approach and drive results.
  • You thrive on reducing complexity, finding elegant, automated, or repeatable ways to solve challenges.
  • You’re confident advising others and shaping decisions that impact multiple teams.
  • You’re proactive about researching and implementing new tools, systems, or methods to keep us ahead of the curve.

KPIs & Success Metrics:

Success in this role will be measured by the strategic, creative, and operational impact you drive across client and internal initiatives. Specifically:

  • Strength and clarity of strategic recommendations adopted by clients.
  • Growth in the number and sophistication of AI‑enabled use cases implemented by clients.
  • Client success in adopting AI‑powered workflows and automation systems.
  • Demonstrated improvements in speed, efficiency, or performance driven by AI implementations.Expansion of AI‑driven experimentation and testing frameworks within client workstreams.
  • Improved scalability and efficiency of AI‑enabled workflows.
  • Implementation of systems or frameworks that reduce manual effort and operational complexity.
  • Consistent delivery of projects on time, with clear communication and minimal escalation.
  • Contribution to cross‑team collaboration and company wide initiatives.
  • Active demonstration of company values and leadership behaviors.
