Accounting and Balance Sheet Lead

Under the general direction of the Controller, the Assistant Controller will perform accounting activities to ensure compliance with IFRS, corporate policies and external auditors. The Assistant Accountant will have an active role in financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, monthly closing, journal entries and account analysis.

Job Responsibilities

• Coordinate the monthly financial close process, ensuring all cost incurred are properly recorded, preparing and reviewing journal entries and account reconciliations; identify and resolve financial accounting issues.
• Assist with external and internal audits and reviews; complete requested materials in a timely manner.
• Evaluate and document procedures and workflow to achieve accurate and efficient accounting systems, safeguard company assets and ensure transactions are recorded properly.
• Assist with system enhancements to increase efficiency, including testing and final approval of upgrades of system reports and automating processes.
• Forecast and monitor cash projections against actuals.
• Maintain fixed asset subsidiary ledger in Sage FAS software, depreciation schedules, costing appropriateness of new assets and monitor asset costs against approved expenditures.
• Conform with and abide by all regulatory guidance and internal policies and procedures.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Job Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science in Accounting or Finance, LCP, LAF, LAE, or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience in a manufacturing industry.
• 3+ years of intermediate-to-advanced experience with MS Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and formulas.
• Fluent in English.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, including IFRS.
• Strong analytical and accounting skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including email.
• Intermediate to advanced experience with MS Word and Access.
• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of fully integrated ERP software packages.
• Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment.
