Senior Commodity Buyer – Machining Parts & Fasteners

Location: Reynosa or Celaya, preferred.

At Tenneco, we are looking for a Senior Commodity Buyer to support our Purchasing team, with a strong focus on machining parts, fasteners and metal-related commodities within an automotive manufacturing environment.

This role will be responsible for managing sourcing activities, RFQ/RFI processes, supplier negotiations, cost analysis, savings initiatives and supplier performance. The position requires close collaboration with internal stakeholders such as Engineering, Quality, Operations, Finance and regional Purchasing teams.

Key responsibilities:

• Manage sourcing activities for machining parts, fasteners and related commodities.
• Lead RFQ/RFI processes, analyze supplier proposals and support sourcing recommendations.
• Negotiate with suppliers to drive cost competitiveness, quality and delivery performance.
• Support annual operating plan savings and cost improvement initiatives.
• Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships.
• Work cross-functionally with Engineering, Operations, Quality and Finance.
• Support supplier meetings, negotiations and documentation for sourcing decisions.
• Analyze cost models, supplier performance and market trends to identify opportunities.

What we are looking for:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in Purchasing, Procurement, Sourcing or Commodity Management.
• Experience in automotive or high-volume manufacturing environments.
• Knowledge of machining, CNC, metal parts, precision components, fasteners or related commodities.
• Strong RFQ, negotiation, cost analysis and supplier management experience.
• Strong analytical, communication and problem-solving skills.
• Professional English level.
