Job Summary

The NPI Project Manager Lead will drive the New Product Introduction (NPI) process for Sanmina’s key automotive account. This role acts as the primary bridge between the customer’s engineering teams and Sanmina’s manufacturing plants, ensuring that high-voltage, power electronics, or complex PCBA projects transition seamlessly from prototype to mass production on time and meeting strict automotive standards.

Core Responsibilities

• NPI Leadership: Lead cross-functional teams (Engineering, Quality, Procurement, Production) through all product launch phases to ensure flawless Start of Production (SOP).
• Customer Relationship Management: Serve as the main point of contact for the client’s NPI and supply chain teams; manage engineering change orders and project milestones.
• Risk & Schedule Control: Develop and maintain master project timelines (Gantt), proactively identifying and mitigating technical or material risks.
• Financial Oversight: Track and optimize NPI launch costs, tooling budgets, and ramp-up profitability.

Candidate Profile & Requirements

1. Hard Skills

• Project Management: Proficiency in MS Project/Jira and managing fast-paced product lifecycles (PMP certification is a plus).
• Automotive Quality Core Tools: Strong expertise in APQP , PPAP , and FMEA / AMEF .
• Technical Literacy: Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings, schematics, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• PLM/ERP Systems: Hands-on experience with systems like Agile, Oracle, or SAP for engineering change management.

2. Soft Skills

• High Adaptability (Fast-Paced Culture): Thrives in high-pressure, hyper-dynamic environments with rapidly shifting design priorities.
• Assertive Communication & Negotiation: Ability to articulate complex technical issues simply and negotiate deadlines effectively with both the client and internal plant teams.

3. Industry & customer knowledge

• Standards & Compliance: Solid understanding of IATF 16949 (Automotive Quality) and IPC-A-610 (Electronic Manufacturing) standards.
• EV & Power Electronics: Technical familiarity with Electric Vehicle (EV) components, Power Electronics, or Battery Management Systems (BMS).

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics, Mechatronics, Industrial, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field.
• Experience: 5+ years of NPI Project Management experience within the EMS (Electronic Manufacturing Services) or Automotive Tier 1 industries. Direct experience managing high-tech, fast-paced automotive or consumer electronics clients is highly preferred.
• Languages: Fluent / Bilingual English. (Crucial for all technical reviews, customer meetings, and documentation).
