Import Export Specialist (Ramos Arizpe)

Position Overview

The Import/Export Specialist is responsible for following up on shipments and import—and export-related activities within the operation.

Responsibilities

• Import / Export Operations
  • Coordinate the import and export of materials and finished goods, ensuring compliance with customs regulations and trade agreements.
  • Prepare and review shipping documentation (invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, etc.).
  • Manage relationships with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and transportation providers to ensure timely delivery.
  • Stay updated on changes in international trade policies, tariffs, and regulations.
• Suppliers and Logistics Management
  • Communicate with Chinese parent company and other suppliers to confirm delivery timelines and resolve any discrepancies or delays.
  • Negotiate terms and monitor vendor performance to ensure quality and on-time delivery.
  • Act as a liaison between the production team and external logistics providers to address any operational issues.
• Material Planning
  • Monitor inventory levels of raw materials and components, ensuring optimal stock levels without overstocking.
  • Collaborate with procurement, production, and logistics teams to ensure material flow.
  • Analyze production forecasts and adjust planning strategies as needed.
• Compliance and Risk Management
  • Ensure compliance with Mexican, US, and international import/export regulations (e.g., IMMEX program, USMCA).
  • Manage duties, taxes, and other trade-related expenses, optimizing cost efficiency.
  • Identify risks in the supply chain and develop contingency plans to mitigate disruptions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, International Business, or a related field.
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in material planning, supply chain, or import/export operations in a manufacturing environment (preferably automotive).
• Strong knowledge of Mexican customs regulations, trade agreements, and the IMMEX program.
• Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems (Epicor, SAP, Oracle) and MS Office Suite (especially Excel).
• Familiarity with international logistics processes and Incoterms.
• Certification in supply chain management (e.g., APICS, CSCP).
• Familiarity with automotive industry standards (e.g., IATF 16949).
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Proficiency in Spanish and English languages (written and verbal)
