Reliability engineer job (Tijuana)

Job Summary

The Reliability Test Lab Engineer is responsible for planning, executing, and analyzing reliability tests for new and mass-production products in the Reliability Test Laboratory. This role ensures product reliability through environmental, mechanical, and ongoing reliability testing (ORT), supports failure analysis, manages test equipment, and meets customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities

1. New Product Reliability Testing
   • Develop and execute reliability test plans and verification strategies for new products.
   • Perform Reliability Demonstration Test (RDT) execution and generate detailed test reports.
   • Lead or assist in experimental anomaly tracking, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
   • Support product transfer activities and operator training on ORT test items.
   • Coordinate outsourced verification activities when required.
2. Ongoing Reliability Test (ORT) & Customer-Specific Testing
   • Plan and execute ORT programs for various product lines.
   • Perform testing planning and execution.
   • Manage sample check-in/check-out for all ORT testing activities.
   • Support night-shift testing operations when assigned.
   • Generate ORT Final Compliance Statistics (FCS) reports.
3. Environmental & Mechanical Reliability Testing
   • Operate reliability test equipment including: Thermal Shock Chamber, Programmable Temperature & Humidity Test Chamber, Ageing Chamber, Vibration Test System, Air Arm Packaging Drop Test Machine, Automatic Insertion Force Testing Machine.
   • Conduct environmental stress tests (high/low temperature, humidity, thermal shock, ageing, burn-in, vibration, drop test, mechanical force test).
4. Failure Analysis & Problem Solving
   • Investigate product failures and test abnormalities.
   • Perform failure analysis and root cause investigation.
   • Work with cross-functional teams to drive corrective and preventive actions.
   • Support material verification and engineering issue resolution.
5. Equipment & Laboratory Management
   • Lead new equipment introduction and qualification.
   • Support laboratory planning and daily equipment management.
   • Coordinate internal/external equipment calibration.
   • Improve testing capability and laboratory efficiency.
6. Customer Support & Audit
   • Support customer visits, technical reviews, and audit activities.
   • Handle customer-specific reliability requirements and validation requests.
   • Provide technical support during customer discussions and issue investigations.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or above in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field. At least 3 years of experience in reliability testing / quality engineering / lab engineering. Experience with RDT, ORT, environmental testing, and mechanical testing. Strong analytical and root cause problem‑solving skills. Good documentation and communication skills in English. Experience in electronics, semiconductor, or manufacturing industry is preferred.

Preferred Skills

• Familiarity with mass production transfer and NPI process.
• Lab equipment calibration and maintenance experience.
• Operator training and SOP development experience.
