About the Role

Demonstrate and deploy an advanced level of technical knowledge in the area of mechanical design of electronic systems throughout the full product life cycle. Part of a high-performance culture, the individual is expected to work with multi-disciplinary teams and deliver in a fast-paced environment complex engineering solutions, meeting or exceeding customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities

• Applies engineering principles and working knowledge to product development
• Has technical responsibility for planning, conceptualize and maturing designs through typical LCM phases
• Provides technical expertise to concurrent projects and support legacy products to ensure sound technical solutions and optimum business benefits
• Design, development and delivery of new products meeting cost-time-quality KPIs
• Continued professional development to advance competence and expertise
• Mentor junior engineers
• Pro-active in process improvement, practices and tools, including new technologies and materials to gain product and business competitive advantage

Required Experience & Skills

An autonomous, self‑motivated and pro‑active individual, pragmatic, with good problem solving skills, starting from first mechanical design principles interlinked with sound fundamental design knowledge. Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence internal and external customers and take full ownership of design tasks.

The ability to conceptualize and release designs through product lifecycle, consisting of but not limited to:

• Mechanical System Design, including drawings
• Electronic packaging, environmental thermal design and validation
• Component Selection (COTS Items)
• Participate in system review meetings
• Demonstrable experience in the delivery of mechanical systems through the development lifecycle
• PDM and Solid Works Mechanical functionality
• Experience in 3D printing, metallic and composite technologies

Desirable

• Understanding of FEA and its limitations
• Knowledge of cable/harnesses design, including cable routing and connectors configuration using SolidWorks Electrical functionality
• Understanding of electrical schematics and translate into 3D designs and drawings
• Understanding of system engineering lifecycle (i.e. V-model)
• Understanding of CAD-CAM tools

Qualifications

• Degree in a Mechanical / Electro-Mechanical Engineering discipline
• Background in design and manufacturing in the aerospace, industrial, or automotive industry is essential
