Product Definition Engineer (Intern)

The Product Definition Engineer (intern) will create/update Assembly modules and drawing packages using SIEMENS NX. The PDE intern will collaborate with cross‑functional engineering teams including Electrical, Mechanical, and Manufacturing to develop new designs, and will document designs following the latest drafting standards. Projects may include design of brackets, tubes, harnesses and other components for aerospace and aeroderivative applications.

Responsibilities

• Create definitions of parts, modules, and assemblies as 2D cross sections, 3D models, tolerance stack‑ups, and various electronic data formats to support analysis, manufacturing, assembly, tooling, and inspection.
• Develop conceptual knowledge of the professional discipline.
• Support roles with specialized expertise or technical knowledge in a broad area.
• Apply general knowledge of business developed through education or past experience.
• Understand how work of own team contributes to the area.
• Resolve issues using established procedures.
• Consult supervisor or more senior team members when issues fall outside defined instructions or parameters.
• Collaborate with others to solve issues.
• For customer‑facing roles, develop strong customer relationships and serve as the interface between customer and GE.
• Exchange technical information, ask questions, and check for understanding.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering or related field with at least 2 years until graduation.
• Strong communication skills in English and Spanish.
• CAD experience and 2D drawing development skills.
• Presentation skills: ability to communicate a message and/or technical recommendation with proper structure.

Desired Characteristics

• Ability to document plans and execute initiatives and program objectives.
• Knowledge of CAD/CAE software (Siemens NX).
• Ability to analyze and resolve problems.
