Senior SDET Engineer

Role Summary

ATG is hiring a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) for a developer-

First quality role. The ideal candidate has the same core coding background we expect

from a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer: strong React/TypeScript, strong C#/.NET,

SQL, CI/CD, production debugging, and experience working in complex service-based

Systems.

This is a good fit for a senior developer who is interested in moving into an SDET role

and wants to use engineering skill to improve quality, testability, automation, and

Release confidence. Prior QA or testing experience is a plus, but it is not the primary

requirement.

What You Will Do

- Build, improve, and maintain automated tests, test utilities, and quality tooling

using TypeScript, C#/.NET, and modern engineering practices.

- Work closely with developers, QA, product, and SDETs to make customer-facing

Features are easier to test, safer to release, and easier to debug in production.

- Contribute hands-on to React/TypeScript front-end validation, C#/.NET service

validation, API testing, data validation, and CI/CD quality gates.

- Use production signals such as logs, metrics, traces, dashboards, support feedback,

and customer impact to guide quality priorities.

- Help the team decide what should be covered by unit tests, integration tests, API

tests, UI tests, monitoring, exploratory testing, or release checks.

- Bring a developer mindset to test design: readable code, maintainable abstractions,

reliable automation, and practical tradeoffs.

Key Requirements

- 5+ years of total software development experience, preferably with meaningful full

stack development experience.

- 3-5 years of experience building modern React and TypeScript applications.

- 3-5 years of experience building production systems with C# and .NET.

- Experience with SQL and relational databases, including data access patterns, query

behavior, and practical debugging.

- Experience with complex, service-based architectures, queues, high-availability

systems, and high-performance production environments.

- Strong ability to debug issues across the full stack, from UI through services,

queues, APIs, data layers, CI/CD, and production telemetry.

- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical tradeoffs to

developers, QA, product, and leadership.

- Interest in moving into an SDET role and applying software engineering skill to

quality, automation, testability, and release confidence.

Nice to Have

- Prior QA, SDET, test automation, or exploratory testing experience.

- Experience writing automated tests with Playwright, TypeScript, C#, API test tools,

or similar frameworks.

- Experience improving flaky tests, test data, CI/CD pipelines, observability, or

release validation.

- E-commerce, marketplace, bidding, payments, or other high-transaction production

experience.

- Familiarity with AI-enabled engineering workflows and the judgment to verify

generated code or tests before relying on them.

What Good Looks Like

A strong candidate can speak credibly as a software developer first, while showing

genuine interest in quality engineering. They should be comfortable writing production-

quality code, reasoning through full stack systems, debugging production issues, and

explaining how automated checks should reduce real product and release risk.
