About the Role - The lead engineer for molding tooling is has a fundamental function in the plant to assure the availability of the tooling in the molding area. The tooling lead engineer works together with the multifunctional areas, having as internal customer to production, quality and EHS areas to make sure the production floor and lines are optimized to ensure the safety, cost, quality and delivery can be accomplished efficiency

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.

• Minimum 10 years of experience in tooling engineering and tool shop management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
• Proficiency in CAD software and tooling design, with a deep understanding of injection molding processes.
• Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English is a must.

Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of injection molds and tooling for manufacturing processes.
Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance tooling performance, reduce costs, and improve product quality.
Manage tooling projects from concept to production, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to specifications.
Provide technical support and guidance to the engineering and production teams regarding tooling and injection molding processes.
Ensure that all tooling and molds meet the highest quality standards and comply with industry regulations.
Develop and manage the tool shop budget, including cost forecasting and expense control.
Mentor and develop the skills of tool shop personnel through training and performance evaluations.
Strong problem solving analysis in the lines to optimize resources (production floor, headcount, cycle times, etc) and decrease waste (scrap, downtime, etc) by implementing methodology (5W, 8D, etc) and using tools.
Ensure Engineers obtain relevant information for transfer projects.
Provide adequate support to other areas such as: Production, Quality, Manufacturing, etc.
Create and manage new projects for capital investment, human resource and new equipment requirements, or additional tooling to support operational or replacement requirements.
Ensure the development and implementation of continuous improvement projects in the manufacturing process to reduce waste.
Ensure that PPAP'S, test runs, engineering changes are executed based on APQP dates and responsibilities, review results and take necessary corrective actions, and manage resources (manpower, equipment, tooling) for necessary runs according to APQP.
Provide regular communication with the Department Manager and provide immediate feedback concerning potential failures/obstacles to achieving established goals.
Attend training and applicable workshops
Provide support to the quoting and Design department to identify, define and make estimates for new projects in terms of process and equipment required.
