Senior Data Engineer (Big Data)

Role Mission
We are looking for a Senior Power BI Engineer to design and deliver scalable, high-impact data visualization solutions that drive business decisions.
In this role, you will work at the intersection of Data Engineering, Business Intelligence, and Backend Services, transforming complex datasets into meaningful dashboards while collaborating closely with Data Engineers, Product Owners, and stakeholders.
You will play a key role in building reliable data models, optimizing performance, and ensuring dashboards are insightful, accurate, and production-ready.

Key Responsibilities

Gather and analyze business requirements related to data visualization
Translate stakeholder needs into effective dashboards and reports
Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, and data models
Build and optimize complex DAX queries to support advanced analytics
Use Power Query for data transformation and modeling
Collaborate with Data Engineering teams to define and refine datasets
Develop and support backend data services using Python (FastAPI)
Work with Databricks and big data environments to consume and structure large datasets
Optimize dashboards for performance, usability, and data accuracy
Publish and manage reports in the Power BI Service
Provide guidance and training to stakeholders on Power BI self-service capabilities
Present progress and insights regularly to client teams
Work within Agile/Scrum teams to deliver solutions on time
Ensure solutions meet security, compliance, and quality standards

Must-Have Skills

• 5+ years of experience in Business Intelligence or Data Engineering roles
• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Power BI in production environments
• Advanced skills in DAX for building complex measures and calculations
• Solid experience with data modeling and dashboard performance optimization
• Strong SQL skills for querying and transforming data
• Experience with Power Query and data transformation workflows
• Experience working with Databricks or similar big data platforms
• Backend development experience using Python (FastAPI)
• Experience collaborating with Data Engineers and cross-functional teams
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Good written and spoken English

Nice to Have

Experience with ETL tools and data pipelines
Familiarity with relational and non-relational databases
Knowledge of Power BI Administration and governance
Experience supporting data-driven decision-making in product or e-commerce environments
Exposure to cloud platforms and scalable data architectures
