Quality Engineer Ii (San Pedro Tlaquepaque)

Job Summary

Develops, evaluates, analyzes, revises, applies and deploys technical quality assurance tools, methods and appropriate work content for assigned areas.

Principal Responsibilities

• Assigned areas may include inspection, verification, validation, quality systems, quality engineer, process development and improvement, customer assurance, supplier quality or other appropriate internal and external teams or processes.
• Ensures processes and items are in compliance with applicable quality assurance and industry standards, company, customer, supplier, government and regular requirements (ISO, Six Sigma, Lean, etc.).
• Analyzes and identifies trends in various inspection, quality, process, customer, supplier and other related data; recommends corrective action or improvement plans when necessary.
• Conducts random, scheduled and/or unscheduled audits to determine conformance to customer specifications and technical drawings, manufacturer’s specifications, assembly manual requirements, company processes and procedures and other such specifications and requirements.
• Interfaces with and coordinates activities or internal cross‑functional teams, customers, suppliers, third part certifying bodies and other external stakeholders appropriate.
• Provides quality systems, quality tools, technical support, improvements and other applicable quality expertise as appropriate, e.g., root cause analysis, sampling plans, Pareto analysis, statistical process control, etc.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Level Specifications

• Thorough knowledge of principles, theories and concepts in area of discipline. Competent in all job functions and has general understanding of the industry practices, techniques and standards.
• Develops solutions for a variety of situations and works on projects requiring evaluation and analysis. May refer to policies, practices and precedents for guidance; determines best course of action to achieve results.
• Analyze supplier performance trends and work with suppliers to meet quality targets.
• Review product related complaints with suppliers to get them involved in the analysis and resolution of problems.
• Work is performed independently and requires the exercise of judgment and discretion. May receive some limited guidance for new assignments. Work may be reviewed for overall adequacy.
• Collaborates with management and team members within the department/function and other areas of the organization. May represent department internally or externally.
• Actions may impact the success of the overall department and/or the organization. Failure to accomplish work or erroneous decisions may result in delays to projects, loss of revenue or allocation of additional resources to remedy.

Work Experience

• Typically 3+ years with bachelor’s or equivalent.

Education and Certification(s)

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience from which comparable knowledge and job skills can be obtained.

Distinguishing Characteristics

• Basic ISO knowledge.
• May be required to hold yellow belt certification.
• Position requires the ability to travel.
