Staff Accountant (Spanish/English)

Our client is a US-based outsourced accounting firm that delivers full-cycle accounting and financial reporting to a portfolio of business clients across multiple industries. They are hiring a bilingual (English/Spanish) Staff Accountant to take complete ownership of 3 to 4 client engagements end to end — daily bookkeeping, bank and credit card reconciliations, accounts payable and accounts receivable, journal entries, general ledger maintenance, month-end and year-end close, and the monthly financial statement package. You won't be one cog in someone else's close; you'll run the whole accounting cycle for your accounts.

This is a portfolio-ownership role, not a task-execution seat. Each client treats you as their accounting point of contact, so you set the close calendar, you self-review the workpapers, and you raise the flag when something looks off. The number of clients assigned is calibrated to the complexity of each book so that quality never slips — but the expectation is real autonomy. The accountants who thrive here manage their own deadlines across several clients at once and don't need to be chased for a reconciliation or a report.

Clients run on different systems. QuickBooks Online (QBO) is the primary platform for most of the portfolio, with NetSuite in play for enterprise-level accounts and additional client-specific tools (such as Bill.com, Sage, or Xero) appearing as the portfolio grows. You'll move between platforms without losing accuracy, keep client files clean and audit-ready inside each system, and adapt quickly when a new tool enters the mix. Because the firm serves both English- and Spanish-speaking clients, written and verbal fluency in both languages is a firm requirement: you'll explain variances, clarify transactions, and deliver financial updates in whichever language the client works in, translating accounting into plain, client-friendly terms either way.

A typical week. Recurring bookkeeping and reconciliations across your accounts blend with the rhythm of month-end — posting accruals, prepaids, and depreciation; reconciling every bank and credit card account; preparing the income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow report for each client; running variance analysis; and flagging anything that needs the client's or the firm's attention before the books close.

What success looks like in 90 days. Every assigned client closing on schedule, reconciled cleanly to the penny, with a reporting package they trust and understand — and a firm that knows your accounts are handled, under US GAAP, without supervision. You'll work fully remote, overlapping with US Mountain Time business hours.

Responsibilities

Full-cycle accounting (per client)

• Manage day-to-day bookkeeping — transaction entry, categorization, and coding across all client accounts
• Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations and resolve discrepancies promptly
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, including invoices, payments, and collections follow-up
• Prepare and post journal entries for accruals, prepaid expenses, depreciation, and period-end adjustments
• Maintain a complete, accurate general ledger for each client
• Lead the month-end and year-end close process for all assigned clients, meeting internal and client-facing deadlines

Financial reporting

• Prepare monthly financial statements — income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports
• Deliver reporting packages tailored to each client's needs and level of financial sophistication
• Perform variance analysis and proactively flag significant trends, anomalies, or concerns
• Assist with budget preparation, forecast updates, and year-end supporting schedules for tax filings or external review

Client communication

• Communicate directly with clients in both English and Spanish — meetings, inquiries, and financial updates delivered professionally in both languages
• Gather documentation, clarify transactions, and explain financials in clear, client-friendly terms
• Serve as the reliable, responsive point of contact so nothing in the portfolio goes unaddressed

Multi-platform accounting & quality control

• Work fluently across QuickBooks Online and NetSuite, and adapt to additional client-specific platforms as the portfolio expands
• Maintain audit-ready, well-organized client files and workpapers
• Self-review all work product before delivery and support external audits and tax preparation with organized documentation
• Ensure all work complies with US GAAP and standards applicable to each client's industry and entity type

Requirements

• Written and verbal fluency in both English and Spanish (firm requirement, not a preference)
• 3+ years of full-cycle accounting experience, ideally in public accounting or a multi-client environment
• Proficiency in QuickBooks Online (QBO) — required
• Working knowledge of NetSuite, or demonstrated ability to operate enterprise-level accounting platforms
• Strong understanding of US GAAP, the full accounting cycle, and financial statement preparation
• Proven ability to manage multiple client accounts simultaneously without sacrificing accuracy or deadlines
• Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail
• Self-directed and reliable in a fully remote environment
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets, and Google Workspace or Microsoft Office

Nice to Have

• CPA or equivalent license
• Experience in a public accounting firm or outsourced accounting/bookkeeping practice
• Familiarity with Sage, Xero, or Bill.com
• Experience managing accounts across multiple industries or entity types
