Cost Accountant (Monterrey)

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Cost Accountant to support cost control, financial analysis, and operational decision-making within a manufacturing environment. This role plays a key part in ensuring accurate cost reporting, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and supporting business units with data-driven insights to improve profitability and efficiency.

The position works cross-functionally with operations, engineering, and finance teams to enhance cost transparency and strengthen financial performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform standard cost accounting activities, including cost calculation, cost roll‑ups, and maintenance of cost structures in ERP systems.
• Analyze cost variances (material, labor, overhead) and identify root causes, providing actionable recommendations.
• Support monthly closing activities related to cost accounting, including journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting.
• Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes, ensuring alignment with operational targets.
• Partner with operations and engineering teams to track production costs and improve cost efficiency.
• Conduct profitability analysis at product, project, and customer levels.
• Monitor budget execution and analyze deviations from financial targets.
• Develop and maintain cost reports, dashboards, and KPIs for management review.
• Improve cost control processes and ensure compliance with internal policies and financial procedures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 2+ years of experience in cost accounting or finance.
• Strong analytical and data interpretation skills.
• Experience with ERP systems.
• Ability to work cross-functionally.

Preferred

• Experience in manufacturing or automotive industry.
• Familiarity with BOM (Bill of Materials) and production processes.
• Experience supporting plant operations or factory environments.
• Bilingual in Spanish and English.
