Merchant Strategy & Ops Manager
Location: Mexico City, Mexico (Hybrid)
We are looking for a Merchant Strategy & Ops Manager to build a brand-new vertical within our Delivery Operations team. In this role, you will act as the main strategic bridge between our Commercial team and Delivery Operations.
You will use SQL to pull data, find operational insights, and turn those insights into clear business rules, merchant growth strategies, and performance frameworks. This is a hands-on position where you will define metrics from scratch, optimize restaurant operations, and negotiate directly with internal teams and key brand partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Build Commercial Frameworks: Create simple guidelines and playbooks for the commercial team to define what they can and cannot offer to restaurant partners.
- Optimize Operations with SQL: Query databases to analyze delivery distance radii, preparation times, cancellation rates, and courier waiting times to increase overall order volume.
- Define Performance Metrics: Build new KPIs and rules to measure restaurant performance, rewarding top-performing merchants with extra platform visibility.
- Drive Strategic Partnerships: Partner with key restaurant brands on co-branded campaigns and joint supply planning for upcoming months.
- Align Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with Commercial, Operations, Marketing, and Product teams to streamline processes and resolve operational bottlenecks.
Requirements
- Relevant Experience: 5 to 7 years in operations, consulting, business strategy, or tech marketplaces (experience in food delivery or mobility is highly preferred).
- Strong Technical Skills: Advanced SQL skills to query and clean raw data independently, alongside advanced Excel or Google Sheets capabilities.
- Stakeholder Negotiation: Proven ability to influence commercial leaders and align cross-functional teams without formal authority over them.
- Merchant Mindset: Deep understanding of restaurant operations, delivery mechanics, and marketplace growth.
- Languages: Professional fluency in both English and Spanish.
