Materials Manager

Job Summary

Flex is the diversified manufacturing partner of choice that helps market‑leading brands design, build and deliver innovative products. We are seeking a Materials Manager located in Guadalajara, North Campus, to report to the Director of Materials. The role involves maintaining materials and purchasing data, coordinating contracts, maintaining certificates of conformance for all suppliers, and creating and maintaining outsourced parts schedules to support our extraordinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate planning activities across the site.
• Manage, control, and direct activities and staff involved in the distribution of inventory to the production line.
• Lead staff to achieve materials profit and loss goals, minimizing excess and obsolete inventory.
• Ensure timely delivery of materials at the most economical cost while maintaining quality standards, identifying suspicious material, and ensuring correct handling, storage, and delivery.
• Negotiate customer expectations and direct staff activities to meet those expectations, ensuring high customer satisfaction.
• Coordinate with customers, purchasing, project managers, operations managers, and warehouse managers.
• Perform accurate inventory cycle counts and controls.
• Provide proper shipping and documentation of finished goods.
• Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and material control systems.
• Review, plan, and approve purchase orders and change notices.
• Examine purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy.
• Manage disposition of excess and obsolete materials.
• Travel as required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience and training.
• Outstanding leadership, organizational, multi‑tasking, and problem‑solving skills.
• Senior‑level experience in planning and purchasing or in MPS supplier management and escalation handling.
• Inventory forecasting experience.
• Strong command of LcC metrics, including E&O (Excess & Obsolete inventory).
• Experience with ITO (Inventory Turnover).
• People management experience.
• Independent, self‑driven individual.
• Customer management experience.
• Fluent in English.
• Experience with production control and warehouse operations.
