About the Role

We're looking for a Technical Architect to anchor the technical design of an active SAP S/4 HANA implementation. This is the person the project leans on when the question isn't "can SAP do this?" but "what's the right way to do this in S/4 HANA without painting ourselves into a corner two phases from now?"

You'll partner closely with functional leads, integration architects, and the client's IT organization to translate business requirements into a technical architecture that actually holds up — clean core where it matters, side-by-side extensions where it makes sense, and a clear story for how legacy data, custom code, and third-party systems all land cleanly in S/4.

This is a remote engagement based out of Mexico, working on U.S. business hours alongside a delivery team that values straight talk and decisions made on technical merit rather than committee.

What You'll Actually Do

• Own the end-to-end technical architecture of the S/4 HANA implementation — from data model and integration design through extensibility strategy and deployment topology
• Make the call on clean core vs. classic extensibility for each requirement, and document the reasoning so the next architect on the project knows why
• Design integrations across SAP and non-SAP systems using CPI, APIs, and event-driven patterns where they fit
• Lead data migration architecture from legacy systems (typically ECC, sometimes non-SAP ERPs) into S/4 HANA, including cutover sequencing
• Review ABAP, CDS, and Fiori work from the development team — catch problems in design review, not in UAT
• Translate between functional consultants and developers when the conversation gets stuck
• Surface technical risk early and propose options, not just problems

Qualifications

• 8+ years working with SAP, with at least 3+ years specifically on S/4 HANA implementations as an architect or senior technical lead
• Hands-on background in ABAP and modern SAP development (CDS, OData, Fiori) — you don't have to be writing code daily now, but you've shipped real work and you can read what your team is producing
• Experience leading at least one full S/4 HANA greenfield or brownfield implementation through go-live
• Strong working knowledge of SAP BTP and where extensions, integrations, and custom apps belong on the platform vs. inside the digital core
• Comfortable owning architectural decisions in front of client stakeholders — including pushing back when the request doesn't match what S/4 should do
• Fluent English; able to work effectively with U.S.-based delivery teams and stakeholders

Preferred

• ECC to S/4 HANA migration experience (System Conversion or Selective Data Transition)
• Familiarity with industry-specific S/4 modules relevant to the client's domain
• SAP CPI / integration architecture across hybrid landscapes
• Prior consulting or implementation partner experience — you've done this on more than one client

Tech Stack
