The Purchasing Commodity Buyer is responsible for sourcing strategies and supplier management for assigned commodities within an automotive Tier 1 environment. This role integrates cost engineering expertise to ensure competitive pricing, robust cost analysis, and value optimization across the supply chain. Lead suppliers, commodity and budget strategies for various products under the regional and global Commodity Team. The Commodity buyer – Americas supports both regional and global objectives.

College/University degree in Industrial Engineering, Business administration or comparable studies (preferable with a major in Purchasing management)

Demonstrated experience as Commodity buyer with an emphasis in a comparable commodity with strong cost analysis, negotiation skills, knowledge of manufacturing processes

Awareness for absolute data integrity

Proficiency in ERP systems and cost modeling tools

Proficient in Microsoft Office tools, especially Outlook and PowerPoint as well as a global purchasing system

Excellent business English

Ensure the best price on a global supply market for all products – Commodity under their responsibility

Develop a comprehensive global and regional Commodity purchasing strategy (3-5 years view) based on a global/regional business strategy and PBU strategy for their products

Lead the global/regional implementation of the commodity strategy including plans in each region (road maps) under their responsibility

Responsible for strategic and tactical steering of the purchasing volume in the assigned commodity

Represent the global/regional commodity towards all suppliers and internal stakeholders

Execute annual price negotiations with all relevant suppliers to (over-)achieve the budget saving/PPV target

Monitor market trends and mitigate supply chain risks.
